Jazz Piano / Repertoire

Michael Hrubý discovered his love for jazz at an early age. Fascinated by the music of Dave Brubeck, Bill Evans and Oscar Peterson, Hrubý also found pianists such as Friedrich Gulda and Fatty George of the vibrant Viennese jazz scene of the 1960’s to be a big influence. An early performance opportunity arose at legendary Viennese jazz club “Josefinum”, where Hrubý, still a teenager, got a chance to play the piano during intervals.

Hrubý has founded “Michael Hrubý Piano Trio” in 2005, with Albert Kreuzer, bass, and Klaus Zalud, drums.
