Teaching

 

Michael Hrubý taught Music and Piano at a Viennese Secondary School from 1976 to 1990.

He holds a professorship for Piano at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna since 1983.

 

Hrubý encourages his students to work with a wide range of repertoire, which encompasses contemporary music genres as well as more traditional ones. Wherever possible, he integrates popular styles, such as jazz, pop, rock in his piano teaching.

Pedagogically, he has recently focused on instrumental group tuition and the methodology of improvisation in instrumental teaching.

 

Michael Hruby emphasizes the importance of networking with musical institutions all over the world, developing an understanding of different music-educational systems and broadening of inter-cultural awareness.

He organizes study trips and recitals abroad for his students on a regular basis.

 

Master classes in Germany (Dresden), Greece (Macedonian University Thessaloniki), Turkey (Minar Sinan University), Asia (Taiwan), Venezuela (Institutio Universitario de Estudios Musicales, Caracas).
